Research The Candidates on Your Ballot

For each candidate on your ballot, research them to see if the candidate represents policy, and positions that reflect your personal beliefs. One such place you can find information about the upcoming North Carolina General Election on November 5th, 2024, and the candidates running for office is at Ballotpedia. On the main page, in the Sample Ballot Lookup box, enter your street address (number and street) in the Street field. Enter your town, and state in the City, State field. Click View My Ballot button. Next chose an upcoming election, click November 5th, 2024.

There is a summary description of each candidate in the race. On the right side of the page is more information about the candidate, with links to their website, and social media pages. Read this information for each candidate in the race. After you have studied all the candidates, select the one you would vote for. Mark the candidate on your Sample Ballot. Repeat this process for the candidates in all the remaining races in your county. Mark your Sample Ballot with the desired candidates.

After you have marked up your Sample Ballot, save it for marking your absentee ballot, or One-Stop voting, or the November 5th, 2024 General Election. You can use the marked-up Sample Ballot to assist in completing your official ballot, either absentee, One-Stop, or Election Day. You can bring the marked up Sample Ballot to the One-Stop, or precinct, where you vote on Election Day to assist you to complete your official ballot.

Cast Your Official Ballot

You can vote one of three ways in the March 5th, 2024 Primary Election. Vote Absentee by Mail, in person at One-Stop Voting Location, or in person at your Precinct on Election Day. See the Yadkin County Election schedule here. A list of all voting precincts in Yadkin County is here.

Process to Vote in Person

At One-Stop, or in your precinct on Election Day, when you enter voting area. A precinct official will ask for your name, and address. The precinct official will search voter registration data for your status. If you are ACTIVE status, a form will be printed with your information. This form is called an Authorization To Vote (ATV). You will sign the form, and then present it to another precinct official. You will then be given a blank ballot based on your affiliation. If you are UNAFILLIATED, you can choose any party ballot. The precinct official will give you an official ballot to mark. Use your marked up Sample Ballot that you filled out during your candidate research, and carefully mark official ballot with your choices. When complete, place your ballot in tabulator machine.
